Raina ZHAPAROVA

I consider myself an open-minded person lucky to be exposed to many cultures throughout my life. I was born in Kazakhstan when it was still a part of the Soviet Union, spent ten years in Mongolia as a child and a teenager, and also lived in Scotland studying my first Master’s degree in Investment Banking & Finance. I have been enjoying teaching I&S and Economics to students from different backgrounds since 2012. I believe in lifelong learning and love acquiring languages, exploring the world, reading, dancing, hiking, and going to the cinema and theatre.

Alex WOODS

Born and bred in London, UK, I worked in schools in the city for a few years before moving to Hong Kong. As a Geography teacher, I have a particular interest in Geopolitics and Urban Sustainability. Outside of work I am a big fan of sport, particularly rugby and hockey, and I am a self-confessed foodie.

Vanessa VIIRRET

Most of my teaching experience has been at an independent school in Melbourne’s inner north-west where I taught VCE English and Media Studies, however, I have also spent time teaching in north London. My interests lie in films, particularly those of the thriller genre, and I am loving the current ‘Golden Age’ of television with so many great series to choose from. I also enjoy reading, running and eating – especially desserts.

Carla ACEPCION

I am a Discovery College alumna from the Class of 2015. Having been a DC student since 2008, It’s exciting for me to be back and working with the Drama department. I’m passionate about the performing arts and have been fortunate enough to take on roles both off and onstage at events such as Picnic in the Park, the Hong Kong Rugby 7s, and more. I’m a karaoke enthusiast, a TV fanatic, and an ardent traveller. I firmly believe that a smile can go a long way.

Barry WILKINSON

Originally from Manchester, UK, I now call Hong Kong my home and have done for many years. I began teaching in further education in the UK and since moving to HK I have taught mainly within international schools. I love teaching language and literature and believe that the classroom is a place where the diversity of opinions we hold can be celebrated, and study and discussion has the power to change those opinions. I also have a passion for music, film and the arts in general and am a self-taught guitarist – a fact that becomes quickly apparent to any audience.
